Hey there! I'm Brianna Bowman.

After a decade working as a fisheries scientist, I shifted my career from research to science communication. Today I use writing, photography, and audio storytelling to bring strong, engaging narratives about the ocean to life.

I write articles for a variety of other media outlets that illuminate marine science, especially the cutting-edge research happening along the Oregon Coast. I also produce podcasts that use immersive, audio-rich storytelling to deepen listeners’ connection to the ocean. My photography adds a visual dimension to these stories, capturing the people, places, and wildlife that define coastal life.

I collaborate with the fishing industry, federal and state agencies, and nonprofits to help communicate their work and amplify the voices shaping our coastal communities.

In addition to marine science communication, I am currently the Weekend Edition host for KLCC, an NPR member station. Each weekend, I bring local stories to listeners across the central Oregon Coast, the Willamette and Umpqua river valleys, and the high desert. I also report for KLCC, offering timely coverage and insights from the coast for both radio and digital audiences. My journalism brings the voices of the coast to listeners across KLCC’s airwaves.
